Promoting Autism Acceptance and Empowerment through Digital Advocacy

Promoting Autism Acceptance and Empowerment through Digital Advocacy

To celebrate Autism Acceptance Month this year ACTIVATE partners shared autistic stories to challenge the stereotypes associated with autism. Amplifying autistic voices, through digital advocacy and promoting more diverse narratives, is a key component of the ACTIVATE project. We are so happy to be able to share the gallery of Famous Autistic People cards shared during the campaign here.

An additional part of the ACTIVATE project #MyAutismJourney Personal Stories campaign was also launched during Autism Awareness Month. ACTIVATE is inviting young autistic people across Europe to send a short script of your story to one of the email addresses below. Anonymity will be fully respected if you wish. Remember, your story matters! You matter! And you can help!

How can you help? Your story will have a huge impact on others, helping to increase and foster a sense of community and belonging.

Who Can Participate?

  •  Autistic individuals who wish to share their personal stories (no age restrictions for this campaign)

How to participate?

Participants can share their experiences in multiple formats:

  • Text Posts: Written stories (200–500 words) detailing personal experiences, challenges, achievements, and reflections.
  • Images & Graphics: Infographics, artwork, or illustrated experiences that represent the individual’s journey.
  • Videos: Short videos (1–3 minutes) featuring personal testimonies, interviews, or creative expressions.
  •  Audio Clips: Recorded reflections for those who prefer voice over text.
