Hi, my name is Jacob Callus, I’m 25 years old and I’m a person living on the autism spectrum. I strongly believe in the notion of “nothing about us without us” and when this relates to the concept of representation, I believe that the strongest voice which can be heard within this sphere is the voice of autistic people themselves. Ultimately autistic people have a voice, they have every right to use it, and they are using it in this day and age when it comes to activism, when it comes to policy making and when it comes to law making. Ultimately autistic people don’t only have views on issues impacting them but also views on issues impacting everyone else. So, it is therefore important for this voice to be heard, for an impact to be made and for a difference to be made in these issues. If you let people thrive their potential can truly be unleashed.
